Spring has finally come to Japan and cherry blossom season is only in few days away! Although this winter was relatively mild, it was still cold and I personally prefer summer over winter, so I had been looking forward to enjoying this nice weather!
It is sometimes rather hard to explain this but he is also she at the same time because he was born as a male, but now he dresses like a female so that is why he has both male (Yoh-ichi) and female names (Yoh-ko). So I think it is more appropriate to call him she instead, so I will call him Ms. Yajima here.
The surface finish of his pottery is often characterized by the oil painting like finish as you can see on the photo. As she makes these with smooth surface using the potter’s rotating wheel, she applies another layer of clay on the surface to make it look like rough surface and then it is glazed with various colors afterwards.
It is not her first time to use these pastel colours on her works and she has been using these colours for those areas which are not easily visible like inside the vase or dots on the surface etc, but this time she used these colours to cover the large areas, although she retained the original surface finish.
The mugs are coated with subtle pale colours and the prices are 5,800yen+tax / each.

The shop is only 1min walk from Gaienmae station （外苑前駅）Exit 1b on Ginza line Tokyo Metro. When you walk up the stairs of the exit 1b, you just need to walk straight for about 100m and our store is on the right side of the street on the ground floor.
Gaienmae station is only 2 stops away from Shibuya on Tokyo Metro Ginza line.
