There are many Japanese handcrafts which are suitable for souvenirs from Japan, but the Japanese karakuri puzzle boxes are the most popular items as a souvenir.
We generally have more than 35 different types of Himitsubako / Karakuri puzzle boxes at my store, but this particular box is very unique as a souvenir from Japan, that is because the Mt. Fuji and Japanese castle are carved with laser on the lid!
The mechanism as a puzzle box is very simple, but it has an advantage of being able to be used as a proper box to keep something important inside the box (Many of the Karakuri puzzle boxes are very small, so they are more of toys than boxes).
The title of this box is called Osaruno Kago-ya, which literally means Monkeys’ palanquins.
How cute is that! This is actually the key of the box and you will need it to open it.
The size of the box is
Outside measurement : 12×8.4×4.8 cm
Inside measurement : 9.4 x 5.9 x 2.8 cm
The price is 8,796yen + tax
(Our store is Tax free store, so you can enjoy tax free shopping at our store, but we need your passport to do so.)
We generally stock over 35 different types of the puzzle boxes, so if you are interested in other puzzle boxes, please visit here .
