Echizen Hiryu handcrafted paper fan 飛龍和紙団扇 Artwind

Echizen in Fukui prefecture is famous for producing high quality handcrafted paper.

This particular type of washi is produced with special technique called Hiryu (飛龍), which Mr.  Osada originally developped.

This hiryu technique enables the washi craftsmen to creat more artistic paper and using that hiryu washi, Mr. Osada made these fans, which we often use in Summer.

These are decorative, so it can be hanged on your wall to decorate your room, but you can of course use it as a fan.

The ones on the photos are smaller sized version of A4 paper size, so that you can bring it in your bag.

They come in various other designs too.

These are larger sized ones.

The prices are 2,500yen+tax for the smaller one and 3,000yen + tax for the larger one.

There is a wooden frame for the fan too, so it will be a perfect gift.

By the way, when you use it as a fan, you need to remove the black rectangular thing from the fan, so that you can hold it properly.
