Hakone, where is located about two hours away from Tokyo by train, is famous for yosegi marquetry, which is a term for describing wooden crafts made of shaved designed wood block, which in turn made with pieces of woods glued together forming decorative patterns.
They are, therefore, not printed, although they are beautifully done as if they are printed.
The marquetry sheet is applied onto a wooden tray and carved to the plate shape leaving the rim area.
There are two sizes of the plates; 30cm and 21cm in diameter.
They are light weight and they are also coated, so they can be used as normal plates serving foods on them.
The details can be found on the online stores
You can also see the actual plates at my store
